We welcome you to join in the AGM as we share the Chapter’s news and updates in a review of our campaigns and activities over the past year. In addition, you’re invited to give input on areas in which the Chapter should move forward and the challenges that remain in front of us. With the provincial election just around the corner, now is the time to determine which issues we want the parties to address in their platforms.
The evening will also include our second Chapter Chat. This is an opportunity to learn more on two of our major campaigns – Public Health Care and Water.
Members of our Public Health Care team will present updates on the Dr. Brian Day for-profit clinics case and discuss some of the public health care solutions to the long wait times for surgeries.
The Water Team brings to our attention an array of local water issues that include the boil water advisories and plans to build a $100 million-plus water treatment plant. Their Chat also highlights National water campaigns including the Navigation Protection Act and the Nestle boycott, to concerns arising from the BC Water Sustainability Act.
Following the Chat overviews, questions and feedback will be welcomed in informal, small group discussions.Letter writing suggestions, informative web links, and petitions will be available to assist those wishing to take action on either of these important Chapter Chat topics.
Perhaps this is the year you’ve decided to become more active and will consider joining our steering committee or one of our working teams.
We look forward to seeing you – everyone is invited to the AGM and Chapter Chat. Join us at the Evergreen Seniors’ Lounge, Filberg Centre – 411 Anderton Ave., Courtenay from 7-8:30 pm on Thursday, Nov 10.
